Enable DMA for best performance of Peripherals..

Enable DMA for best performance of Peripherals..

'DMA' stands for Direct Memory Access. It helps to Peripheral to read & write to system memory without the interference of CPU. Hence this feature improves the system performance as CPU is not involved in the tasks.

Today most of the peripherals like CD/DVD writers & ROMS support this feature. But sometimes by default this feature remains off in Windows XP. So if you want to check the status of this DMA follow these steps :-

  • Go to Start & then Control Panel.
  • Now click on System icon then System Properties will be opened.
  • Now click on Hardware & then on Device Manager..
  • Go to IDE ATA/ATAPI Controllers & then Go to Primary IDE Channel..
  • Under the tab Advanced Settings, check Transfer Mode
  • The transfer mode should be on 'DMA if Available'
  • If it's on 'PIO only' then change it to 'DMA if Available'
  • Also do the same check for Secondary IDE Channel..

And then you will be able to take advantage of this feature of your device..

Joost Beta 1.0, Watch Internet TV !

Joost Beta 1.0, Watch Internet TV !

Joost is a cool software with which you can watch TV online। You can watch great shows just sitting in front of your PC, you don't even need a TV Tuner card to view your programs. The main thing required is only a Internet Connection on your PC. Here are some of it's requirements:-
  • Windows XP Service Pack 2 with DirectX 9.0c
  • Pentium 4 processor 1 GHz
  • 512 MB or more RAM
  • A modern video card with DirectX support and at least 32 MB of VRAM
  • About 500 MB free disk space
  • Broadband/ADSL (1 Mbit/s downstream, 512 Kbit/s upstream recommended, although lower speeds may well work)
  • 1 hour of viewing is 320 Megabytes downloaded and 105 Megabytes uploaded, which means that a 1 GB cap will be exhausted in about 10 hours...

So, one of it's hardest requirement is an ' Powerful Internet Connection ' .. many people cannot afford this Speed & you already know that how it feels when you watch Youtube videos on a tiny connection. But if you are not being charged per MB under your connection then this is the best Freeware available for watching TV online। For those who have small connection they can enjoy this TV by downloading the shows late night... Note: A lot of patience may be Required :)

If you are extra rich then also you can watch TV online, the only thing different would be some Extra cash getting out of your Big Pocket !
