Handphone Concept

Those of you who tend to forget where they put their things, especially their cellphones (I’m referring to those busy ladies who have sophisticated cellphone models), try sticking your phones to yourself. Sure, you can use the clamshell cellphone watch, but that might prove a bit heavy for the ladies. In case all you want is to keep in touch with everyone, without the multimedia package, you can go for a handphone concept.

With GSM – UMTS coverage, this lightweight cellphone is one that surely surpasses most other models in terms of portability. This device is designed to be at hand, literally. It allows you to call using a natural gesture, features voice control for activation and dial memorized numbers. Your pinky and your thumb double as microphone and speaker, respectively. This way you can bring the microphone very near the mouth and the speaker almost inside the ear to facilitate communication in the most nosiest of spaces.

The handphone can be easily worn, owing to its simple design that uses elastic strings, which can be rolled around the middle finger and the wrist. Wearing the phone could be normal and trouble-free just like wearing a watch, ring or bracelet (although it doesn’t look too fancy on a lady’s hand). Customization freaks will be able to find elastic string in different colors, and different cases for the cellphone.

Glass Keyboard

Remember those bulky keyboards that included the entire hardware components of a PC? I got my hands on an IBM Tandy in 1994 and I must say it looked like an advanced typing machine. Of course, that was just an experiment, as IBM quickly separated the keyboard from the bulky case. I haven’t really seen any revolutionary keyboard design in the past years, except maybe for that LED-projected virtual keyboard. Nowadays, everybody is crazy about sleek glassy stuff. Somebody has even come with a glass keyboard which, I reckon is not that revolutionary, but it’s quite interesting, even though it’s only for that cutting-edge thinness.
Apparently, glass surface inputting is taking the industry by storm. We’ve seen the iPhone , touchscreens, even Microsoft wants to get a piece of it with the its Surface technology. So why shouldn’t keyboards benefit from all this? That was precisely what Kong Fanwen thought. He came up with what he claims it is the flattest full size QWERTY keyboard to date. This isn’t in fact a simple keyboard, as it features no standard keys. The glassy keyboard only integrates a glass surface, camera and lighting, taking full advantage of the latest motion capture technology. I’m still waiting for those holographic keyboards, though.
